Mary Parrett Obituary

Mary K. Lemmons Parrett, 70, of New Haven, passed away August 21, 2016. She was born December 31, 1945 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Joseph J. and Katherine Louise Krupp Lemmons. Mary K. received nursing degrees from both Clark State College and Wright State University. She worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, Ohio, Mercy Urbana Hospital, Urbana, Ohio, and Nazareth Motherhouse, Nazareth, Kentucky. Due to failing health, she retired from nursing in 2001. She was a Catholic by faith serving as Benedictine Oblate with Benedictines of Jesus Crucified, Branford, Connecticut, a member of Intercessors of the Lamb, Omaha, Nebraska, the Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani, associated with the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani, Trappist, Kentucky, and a volunteer for many years with the New Hope Food Bank. Mary K. was also an accomplished author. She had many books published, with 14 of her books residing in the Library of Congress. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Richard, William C., Joseph, and Robert J. Sr. Lemmons, a son; Joseph, a grandson, Dale Richard Hayden, and a granddaughter, Laney Jae Parrett. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert W. Parrett, Sr., 2 daugthers, Rebecca Locke (Matthew) and Katherine Hayden, both of Springfield, Ohio, a son, Robert W. Parrett Jr. (Jennifer) of Springfield, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, Connor, Nolan, Regan, and Luke Parrett, Kylie and Callen Locke, Ciera and Madelyn Hayden, and Joel Clark, a sister Dolores Fischer (Kenny) of Blufton, SC, 3 sisters in law, Joanne, Janice, and Mary Pat Lemmons, 3 brothers in law, Tom (Velma), Tim (Barbara), and Barry (Teresa) Parrett, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home, New Haven, with a graveside service and burial to follow at the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of your choice.
