Joseph Thornsberry Sr. Obituary

Joseph Eugene “Tubby” Thornsberry, Sr., 82, of New Haven, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home. He was born September 16, 1932 in Nelson County, retired from the United States Postal Service, former president of APWU Local 2859, member of American Legion Post 42, a United States Air Force and Navy veteran, and a catholic by faith. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marian, his parents Bernard and Aline, a sister Susie DeWeese, and a brother Bernard Thornsberry, Jr. He is survived by his children, Betty Thornsberry and Joseph Eugene “Joey” Thornsberry, Jr., 2 sisters; Juanita Jones and Margaret Hagan, 2 brothers; James Marion “J.M.” Thornsberry and William Bernard Thornsberry, and 4 grandchildren; William Scott Posing, Athene, Joseph Kenji, and Julie Thornsberry. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home, New Haven with burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Nelson County and American Legion Post 42.
