Evelyn M. Dones

Evelyn M.  Dones, 102 passed away at her home Sunday Feb. 19 surrounded by her children and her care giver/granddaughter, Anita Back. Evelyn was born March 17, 1909 and lived her entire life in the Icetown area. She born to the late Rodman (Doc) and Irene Wimpsett Vowels, a Catholic by faith, and a member of the St. Catherine of Alexandra Catholic Church in New Haven, she was a member of the New Haven Senior Citizens, and the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 121 in Bardstown.  Evelyn was  preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grover Cleveland Dones Sr. (3) sons; Willard, Kenny and Gerald Dones, (3) Brothers; Pip, Floyd, Dink Vowels, and (2) sisters; Margie Fogle and Lucille Ezell,  (5) grand Children and (2) great grandchildren.   She is survived by (3) Sons; Cleveland “June Bug”, Steve (Janet) and Larry (Nancy) Dones all of Boston. (3) Daughters;  Genevieve (Jack) Haseldon, North Vernon, IN, Lois (Bill) Lashley, and Jean (Darell) Back both of Boston. (1) sister; Carmel Dones of Elizabethtown. (38) Grandchildren, (65) Great Grandchildren, (29) great great grandchildren, and (2) great great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral Service for Evelyn Dones will be held on Thur.  10:00 am, Feb. 23 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven with Father Troy Overton officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Church cemetery in Bardstown.  Visitation will be Wed. 2:00 till 8 pm, Thursday at 8 till 9:30 am at the Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
