Donald Cecil Obituary

Donald Anthony Cecil, 81 of Howardstown died Friday, May 24, 2013 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born and raised in Howardstown, was a Catholic by faith and a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown.  A veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. A member of the American Legion Post 87, Hodgenville KY  and The Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, Bardstown Ky. He owned and operated Howardstown Liquor Store in Howardstown. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Robert Conrad and Cora Edmond Howard Cecil, (2) brothers Harold and Alfred Cecil, (3) sisters; Margaret Sims, Gladys Berndt, and Iveta Sprowles. Donald is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lavon Greenwell Cecil, (5) Sons; Alan (Diane) Cecil, Bardstown, Terry (Penny) Cecil, Matt (Terri) Cecil and David (Mary) Cecil, all of Howardstown, Joe Paul (Pam) Cecil, Hodgenville.  (1) Daughter; Donna (Jeff) Grayson, Erlanger KY. (3) Sisters, Mary Allen, Clarksville IN, Roberta Stallings, El Paso TX, and Sue Smith, Brooks KY.  (22) Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren also survive.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 11 am, at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown with Rev. Ken Fortener  presiding. Visitation will be Monday May 27, 2- 8 pm, with a prayer service at 5 pm and from 9 till 10:30 am Tuesday May 28 at the Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven. Memorial Contributions may go to the St. Ann Church, 7500 Howardstown Road, Howardstown, KY 40051.
