Darell Vincent Cecil

Darell Vincent Cecil of Balltown, age 89 died at his residence Wednesday April 22, 2015.  He was a Catholic by Faith and he attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.  Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lytle and Elisabeth Mae “Bessie” Rogers Cecil; his first wife, Mary Imogene Bryan Cecil, his second wife, Mary Huberta "Birdie" Donahue Cecil (3) brothers, Marvin Cecil, Bertrand Cecil, Emil Cecil, (2) infant children, Mary Theresa Cecil, James Bryan Cecil and one Granddaughter, Brittany Cecil.   Survivors include (4) daughters, Betty Cecil of Bardstown, Jean Cecil of Louisville, Donna Shofner (Scott) of Melody Lake, Sharon Cecil of Balltown.;  (7) sons, Vincent Cecil (Diania), Roger Cecil (Tish) and Johnny Cecil (Nancy), Ricky, Tony and Brian Cecil all of Balltown and Gary Cecil (Mica) of Seymour, Indiana, three step sons, Joe Cecil of New Hope, David Cecil (Nancy) of Lexington and Eric Cecil of Melody Lake,(29) grandchildren, (36) great-grandchildren, (7) step-grandchildren and (1) step great-grandchild, siblings Edwin Cecil (Frances) of Bardstown and Rosaline Roby of Bardstown, and several nieces and nephews.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Rev. Jeff Hopper will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visitation is 2-8 pm Sunday with a Prayer service at 6 PM, and Monday morning 8-10:30am at the Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.  Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
